Here is a wonderful quote, somewhat humorous yet dead on point:
“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”
― Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt
Deadlines make people crazy. I find that people are either procrastinators or over achievers who complete the task well before the due date. Few are in the middle.
Deadlines exist for your safety. They can insure you complete necessary tasks and avoid the pain that surely will follow if you miss that date. Writing is a task that pushes even the great over achiever into procrastination. I find with so many of our clients, they hold out on content writing until the last minute. The website is up, the images are in and wow, there is a deluge of white space waiting for the written word.
Some simple tips for content and writing deadlines:
- Be realistic. Don’t stress yourself by making lofty goals. Pick your end date and back into the associated due dates so the project progresses at a good pace.
- Leave wiggle room. No need to say more.
- Don’t do it alone. Get help from a professional, a colleague or a resource for that subject matter.
Content writers can help with proofreading, editing or full creation of your content. It doesn’t have to be costly or time consuming.

No deadlines missed. No websites delayed. No whooshing sounds!
